The soon to be open ReStore needs your donations of new or reusable items. As much as we appreciate any donation, we often need to be selective. There are items we can not accept due to State or Federal laws, and other haz-mat regulations. Here is a basic list of acceptable donations:
- Cabinets - Kitchens and/or Bath
- Countertops
- Windows
- Appliances
- Re-usable building materials
- Flooring materials - New tile, hardwood, carpet and padding, and sheet vinyl
- Furniture
- Antiques and art

We will be needing your help to make this store a success. Call us or stop in to the store. Enjoy the fellowship and the satisfaction that you are apart of something that has a great impact on our county and community. We need good people to help out in sales, customer service, organizing, driving to pick-up donations, and office help. Your talent is your smile and your willingness to volunteer.

Canandaigua ReStore
One Step Closer to Reality
Habitat for Humanity of Ontario County's ReStore plan takes a step closer to becoming reality. The ReStore
committee is negotiating with the owner of the former Finger Lakes Racquet and Fitness Club for the lease/purchase
of the building located on County Road 10 in Canandaigua. A Habitat ReStore is a thrift style store that
provides additional funding to support our affiliates mission. Donations of lumber, building supplies, doors, windows,
appliances, furniture and cabinets are accepted from individuals, remodeler's, builders and builder supply
stores. The donations are then sold to others through the ReStore. This
allows us to receive much needed funds and to divert construction and
household materials from landfills and help protect the environment.
Other nearby affiliate ReStores are operated in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse,
Dansville and Corning.
APD Engineering & Architecture, PLLC of Victor, NY has partnered with Habitat to provide their expertise to the project. Steve Cleason
and his team at APD are not only providing the architectural drawing
for remodeling the building but also all of the site engineering that needs to be done for the approval process. APD
is also helping with new designs for future Habitat homes.
The 11,388 sq. ft. building will also house our new Habitat offices. Roughly 1250 sq. ft. of the existing office
area within the building will be remodeled to our needs. This will allow us to consolidate all of our Habitat operations
in one centrally located facility.
Although the owner of the building has been very generous with our affiliate there is much to be done. We have
started a fundraising campaign to help cover the start-up costs of remodeling and opening the ReStore. This campaign
will also help fund the purchase of the building within a few short years. Dollars and volunteers will be in
desperate need once we get the ok to start remodeling.
